Reinstall XP with the CD in the drive. If it boots to the CD, ensure you format the drive you'll be installing XP to when doing the reinstall. If the computr does not boot to the CD, press F12 after POST and you'll be prompted with a BOOT menu. Select the CD. After the reinstall, the computer should reboot and continue as normal.

Good luck! That kind of freeze-up problem could be caused by a variety of hardware and/or software problems. If I was in your shoes, I would go looking for the closest repair shop in the Yellow Pages (paper version). You can usually tell from the kind of advertisements a particular shop puts in the Yellow Pages whether they service your hardware. Luckily, Windows XP is so common that almost every repair shop can help with your software reinstall.

You will have to boot from a cd,if you have access to the Internet download a program called KILLDISK this will remove all data from your hard drive then reinstall windows if this dosen't work you have a bad hardrive, also I have a pirated copy of winxp pro that installs quickly and with no problems opposed to my legal copy which gives me fits.

If your computer hangs or reboots while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software. This problem can be solved by uninstalling new softwares, updating device drivers and making minor configuration changes.

i have the solution to your problem... take your computer and throw it on the ground and stomp on it! I want to do this to my computer all the time. They're good when they're good, but when they're bad... they suck! Good luck!
