I believe in democracy. I used to believe I lived in one. I have a vote here, after all. But I do not have a vote in the United States. Yet more and more aspects of our lives are being decided in Washington, not Westminster. So a country in which we have no say, is ruling us. Iraq, Trident, the US Ambassador's Parking fees - I've really had enough now.

Well hang on: the agreement means that more airlines can fly from Heathrow to the USA instead of just the four that can do so at present. That means more European airlines such as KLM can choose to fly via Heathrow if they want to.

You're right to say its still unfair because not all EU airlines will be allowed into US airspace whereas any American carrier can fly over here. However the agreement has a time limit of two years & the plan is that it will be scapped after this time if the US government does not act to correct the imbalance.

Well, let's see: 1776 - 1607 = 169 years that Britain told America what to do. 1945 + 169 = 2114. 2114 - 2007 = 107 more years before you've paid us back.

If you like, we can take a few years off for the cans of whoopass we opened at Trenton, Saratoga, Monmouth, Yorktown, Toronto, Baltimore and New Orleans. Of course, we'd have to take them back as reparations for New York, Philadelphia, Detroit and Washington.

That sounds crazy. But I'm just trying to keep up with you.

Since when have the Americans ever given Britain a fair deal?

Every deal they make, from extradition to free trade, is weighted in their favour.

They are the bully boys of the free world, which is a great shame, because most of the American people are not like that at all.
Like us, they have had one lousy government after another.
