Oh, they go there to create a few problems for themselves I'm sure. They are attention seekers and have nothing else to think about but them, them, them. Just about every celebrity goes into rehab at some time, yet in my whole life I have only known one 'normal' person who has gone into rehab and that was back in the eighties when it was much rarer. He had a drug problem and did improve, although not sure what he's doing now.

Publicity is one reason, also lets face it when did you ever hear of a real celebrity being convicted for drug offences or any other misdemeanor. The whole entertainment world is in cohorts with the police and justice service so to avoid any nasty crimes being admited or punished they go tottering off to rehab. I would love just once for the police to be involved in someone's concert/theatre/party and for the glitterati to suffer the same consequences as us. If you have a conviction for drug offences it is possible to have visas and work permits refused in countries - it is one rule for us and one for them. Having said that I understand that the pressure to conform is a strong for a celebrity as anyone of us and peer pressure is difficult to resist. Imagine what it must be like when your record company encourages you to take prescribed drugs just so you look slim and happy and awake

there's no such thing as negative publicity. it's still something to be noticed or to be in the headlines. but there are those who actually have a problem. when you seem to have everything, there's no limit to what you can do... and that usually gets you in trouble. when a star gets into trouble, going to rehab usually sends a statement saying "I wanna change for the better." even if it may not be true...

The get addicted just like everybody else and even though rehab doesn't work 90% of the time- they have obviously hit a rock bottom and realize that they need help.

robbie williams doesnt know what real excess is. i do (without the drugs, and questionable sexual presuausion) i hold down a job no sweat and i am able to keep my private life and working life seperate low grade celebs need to realize when their latest single bombed that its no biggie. i have just been paid off again, slack on the building trade at the minute but hey! i'll just get another job and not book myself into the priory on the quiet, but remembering to inform my PR company and the press first.

Their multiple personality drives them nuts. They are so into being some one they're not in order to please the public they forget who they really are. They keep running in circles trying to find themselves. But, the circle never ends! So, they give up and turn to drugs or booze or both, because this gives them a false sense of inner peace making them happy with themselves. So they think. Eventually they come to reality and realize all this is another false lie and start all over again, trying to find themselves. Whew, just thinking about it wears me down.

They cannot cope with all the publicity and crap that stardom brings. Also the constant pressure to have to be permanently on top form. they aren't allowed bad hair days or zits etc. Cant go out without cameras spying on them.
Also for some perhaps publicity stunts....

they get presurised into doing things so screw up their lives. if they keep going the way they wer then they would have no career, no fans and therefore nothing to do or live for so they mayswell go into rehab. so it is mainly publicity so that they can get more money to buy themselves drugs etc so they can go back to rehab and the cycle begins all over again.

They broke a nail.
Their popularity is down.
Attention.
Publicity.
Pity in the hope that someone will buy their record/film.
Publicity to get more work and more money.
To be able to sell the story of 'Their Hell' to a celebrity magazine for tens of thousands of pounds.
It all works.
It is a card in the fame game.

Clearly having a lot of money is a new experience for them. And with very little willpower they tend to get sucked in to the excesses in Hollywood. They go to rehab because they can afford it. Their money and celebrity affords them chance after chance after chance.
