Here is a supplement you can buy. The wording is sort of commercial, but it could be worth checking out. There are literally hundreds of links for brain supplements, if you care to check them out:

DHA (Decosahexaenoic Acid) is an essential fatty acid necessary for mental, nerve, and visual function. DHA is the primary structural fatty acid in the gray matter of the brain and retina of the eye and is important for sign transmission in the brain, eye and nervous system.

DHA is one of the most polyunsaturated oils in our bodies; much more unsaturated than all vegetable oils. DHA is a building block of tissue in our brain and in the retina of our Eyes. Plus, our body uses DHA in the formation of several vital neurotransmitters, which send nerve signals around our body. Low levels of DHA have been correlated with changes in disposition, memory loss, visual function and other neurological conditions. DHA consists of great blend of DHA and EPA. Both body and brain growth can be positively affected by DHA

for focus out up a candle 6 to 9 feet away and look at it WITHOUT blinking your eyes.
This old samourai excersize is to increase your focus.
The downside of eggs is that your body wants to compensate with yin food as all yang food (meats, eggs, salt) will cause a counter reaction. You have yin cravings and the yin will make you fat...
Thats why police officers are usually fat.
They are yang all the time and when they have lunch the love the good fat sweet stuff...
remember the good old red steak and the sweet desert afterwards?
The more yang food you take the more up in your brain you get...
In the macrobiotic books you can find which foods are yang.

Whole foods, plant based diet will improve and maintain cognitive function. I am not against supplements like ginseng or ginko, but for long term benefits, a lifestyle of diet integrity must be maintained. That means mostly vegan. The less fat, saturated fat and cholesterol you consume, and the more complex carbohydrates, fibre and nutrients (from WHOLE foods, not supplements, as they work together) the better your brain - the better your whole body will function. You will lower your risk of heart disease by about 70%, your risk of cancer about 56%, lessen eye problems, and the risk of diabetes.

Doing crossword puzzles...& not the stupid easy ones, either. You need to challenge your mind to strengthen it. I love all the New York Sunday Times ones. I have books of them at home.
