I used to live in the country. The area was fairly new and close to the woods. At night I would hear a cry , sounded like a baby. Well, I early morning my two ducks were mauled to pieces. We checked the prints and they matched the prints of a panther. It is to my understanding that panthers usually stay in a certain area unless the food source is low. So, it might not be unsual to see a pantherin your area.
