is it possible for a man to become stronger than a gorrilla?

i've heard quoted that gorrillas are extremely strong creatures, and was wondering if for instance, the strongest man in world is as strong as a big silverback male gorrilla??

Also gorrilla's are fairly intelligent creatures, so surely one could be trained to take part in the world's strongest man competition, would this be possible if the rule's allowed it?

A man can not be as strong as a silver back gorilla. We are not proportioned in the same way. Our bodies are not created the same. Pound for pound, they are built in a way that they can utilize there entire muscle mass. They are said to be 3 to 4 times stronger than the strongest man. If you were to dissect a gorillas chest and arms you would see they criss cross and connect to the arms and chest differently than a humans. They were made this way cause of the environment. Gorillas, though they spend the majority of the time on the ground, they also climb and retain there climbing muscle structure. We do not keep this structure, and therefore can not do as a Gorilla does, We sacrificed our Brute strength for Brains.
As for a Gorilla competing, no the rules would not allow a trained Gorilla or ape in the competition since the competition is for MAN not APE. It would hardly be fair.

a man has no need to be that strong. men that are that big are actually muscle bound and cant even reach behind themselves, or stretch like a normal human is supossed to be able to. Man can use more intelegent tools that can multiply his/her strength many times, even many times that of a gorilla. The risk factor for letting a silver back gorrilla compete with humans would be huge and I don't think you can even train them to be 100% docile.

In theory, perhaps. But it's not likely, because, as you say, a gorrila is an extremely strong creature. I don't have the article with me and I read it several years ago, but I seem to remember reading that a one-handed pull from a gorilla can easily reach 600 pounds or perhaps a bit more.

well, th eonly way i coulld think of it being possible is the gorrilla is extremely weak... and the man is say a body builder. But a weak gorilla will still have the strength of a VERY strong human

I don't think it's physically possible for any human to be stronger than a gorilla. I watched a show one time where a sumo wrestler was playing tug of war with an orangutan, & the orangutan won every round.
