Okay, I want a garden that people stop and look at and say, "Wow, I would have never thought to use those flowers/vegetables/trees/fruit next to each other. It looks awesome". I want something bold and daring, but something that looks good together. I have convolvolus (dwarf morning glorys) and Canterbury bells. (The Canterbury bells are pinks and purples). What would go good with these?

I would plant something in a contrasting color, like bright yellow. Here are some ideas (I really like the dwarf gaillardia!):

You might also want to add some foliage plants, maybe in a darker shade of green. I sometimes mix eggplant plants and herbs with my flowers, too. Basil grows in many varieties and has the added benefit of repelling some insects.

is this a small garden or whole backyard ? lol trees roots are hard to dig around so i would be care full there, and they get big. you want alot, and its going to take alot of work !but lets do flowers . should you have to plant them every year or do you want them back next year? lets do perennials , i dont know names sorry. i go to the local nursery see what color it is and see when it blooms. so i have both color and blooms all season . patterns and designs are up to you !veggies! i love a good vine plant i place pumpkins in with my corn ! plant as the directions say to counting backwards from the date you want the veggies then you'll know when to plant !vines do better in afternoon shade thats why i put them in with corn.use your imagination and try to keep your expense down but dont skimp on the price you pay for seeds!

Check out English garden sites such as BBC Gardening. The english grow vegetables ornamentally all the time. The best patterns I've seen were with red leafed cabbages. They also use red leafed beets and coloured stemmed chards (silverbeet). Do some homework and it should take all the guess work out of it.
