In the 'Black Almanac,' it states that only 5% of the total number of slaves imported into the Americas were brought to the United States, or 5% of the "guilt." In the United States, it's a well-established fact that slavery ONLY existed in the South, and ONLY practiced by 1% of the White population of the South. 1% of the South would be about 0.4% of the whole country. Okay, now we're at 0.4% of the blame. When slavery ended in the United States in 1865, at least 40% of our ancestors had NOT even gotten here yet! So lets adjust that figure. 60% of 0.4% is 0.24%. Jewish slave companies owned virtually all of the ships, that has got to be 50% of the blame, so now we're at 0.12%. Arab slavers and African chieftains were responsible for initially catching the people. That's got to be 25% of the blame, so the total "blame" on the ancestors of modern day White Americas is 0.09%.

i think it is unfair that america gets so much of the blame for slavery while no one talks about jamaca, brazil, other europen countries. yes, what happened was wrong but america wasnt the only nation that did it. we are just more open to talk about it which makes this place great.

The civil war was not just about slavery. They just say it is because it makes it sound like it was a noble cause. It wasn't. It was two different governments trying to take over. I think that the slavery issue is dead. I am tired of being accused, because I am white. I didn't have any slaves, and I don't hate black people. It is just another excuse for a pity party..."We were so abused" they cry. And yet no one in modern times was ever a slave in America. Get over it!!!!!

That's nice and all but forget about slavery for a minute. I'm still pissed because my grandmother had to sit in the back of the bus, had to use black only water fountains and crap like that. I'm pissed because my ancestors were dragged and hung from trees just because they were black. By the way, this crap ended in 1964 so it's not like there aren't whites here today who had family members who actively benefited and believed in Jim Crow.

So don't take a bow just yet, buddy. It's always easy to use slavery as a way to remove whites from blame because it happened so long ago and all that other stuff you just said. But Jim Crow...that's another monster entirely.

All those numbers and calculations are great and all, but it still doesn't change the fact that it happened. It doesn't change the fact that people violated other human beings civil rights, tore them from their homeland and made them be slaves. Slaves whom they abused, tortured, raped, starved and killed.
I believe we (you) need to get past trying to decide who to place the blame on and acknowledge it for the atrocity that it was. And acknowledge the fact that slavery still haunts this country, regardless of who's to blame.

The "TriangleTrade" that brought captured Africans to the Americas was based on making Money...lots of it.

The captured Africans were used in the Americas as cheap labor, on farms and plantations, to cut down trees to make tar and pitch for British warships, build towns and cities, then to raise sugar and other crops...including "King Cotton." (More Money...)

This Money ended up - by design - in the hands of White Planters, Businessmen, etc.

YOU do the math.

I shall share with you the Continent on which they have took invaded for no justifiable reason how they mistreated those here prior to them arriving, and all other races which were what they considered to be of their kind were mistreated! this lingers on the minds of all other races today. Called post traumatic stress syndrome other wise post terrorism!
You could use this argument you claim but the prosecutors would object your claim!

1% of the population...yeah that's enough to lead up to the Civil war...wow.

I suggest you pick up a history book and stop trying to make yourself feel better about the situation.

I know that you feel guilty about slavery (which is obviously the case if you were to look up such information), but don't talk about slavery as if it wasn't a big deal, because everyone knows it was. It's a huge stain in American history. We shouldn't dwell on it, but neither should we pass it off as unimportant or exaggerated.

What I don't nderstand is wy blacks aren't offended by the american flag? That as the flag on thee slave ships. The gov sanctioned slavery. Why don't I hear on outcry on that? We would be better off if slavery were still legal.
