The correct spelling is sociopath. It is a person who knows the difference between right and wrong, but doesn't really care. Also called Anti-social personality disorder.

It sounds like you mean "sociopath." A sociopath, according to dictionary.reference.com, is "a person, as a psychopathic personality, whose behavior is antisocial and who lacks a sense of moral responsibility or social conscience."

A sociopath demonstrates behavior that s/he knows society considers unacceptable -- and that s/he could exercise restraint to keep him/herself from doing (but chooses not to). A serial killer is a one of the more common examples.

a sociopath (also pronounced so-see-o-path) is someone who is antisocial or basically doesn't like or doesn't know how to deal with other people.
