Could be a spider/insect bite, I'd treat it as is and go to the doc - you don't want a huge hole taken out of your thigh if it comes to that, so go make sure.

If it is hot to the touch it means an infection so head to the doc today. If your regular doc can't see you see someone who can whether it is someone in the same clinic or ER.

hey there, have you been out in woodland or tall grass/shrub etc? because you could have easily picked up a tick if you were in deer territory.
if you see a white tender area in the middle of your red patch [called a bull's eye to medics who know about these things] then it is time to check it out with a doc. type of person -vs- limes disease, asap.

If it has grown rapidly overnight, go to the ER NOW!! It may be nothing more than a local infection, but it could potentially be necrotizing fasciitis, which can cause death.

Yeah, I agree with Crissie above, it sounds like a boil. My fiance gets them all the time on his thighs when he is run down.

Sounds like some sorta infection you need to go see your doctor cause it could be sumthing entirely worse or entirely not

With it being hot it means you have some kind of infection... possibly cellulitis.. my uncle had it and the symptoms were like yours.Go to your doc ASAP!!!!
