I have a hot and cold mixer tap in my kitchen which appears to be faulty. When the hot water is run for a while and the cold tap is turned on, the cold water does not come out. I have to wait several minutes for the cold water to appear which starts as a trickle, which then gradually gets faster

(For Nossda)
Both taps work on their own but the cold tap stops working when the hot tap has been run for a while. It then takes several minutes for the water to come out of the cold tap when the hot tap has been turned off.

Sounds like the jumper in the cold side of the mixer tap is sticking, dismantle it give it a clean and fit a new washer that should fix it. Ps turn of the cold stopcock first unless you want a shower!

your tap must be near the boiler, most people have to wait for the hot water, not the cold...have the faucet checked maybe.

I have a GOOD faucet, works well and forever...a man came and hit it with a big sledge hammer and it did not break, but the sink came out of its frame.
have a professional look at it. make sure he gives you an approximate fee quote first.

I think you may have your pipes crossed. the hot tap should be cold water and the cold tap should be the hot. water. Can't say more unless I could see the taps.

Maybe the water pressure is at fault. Cant you get a plumber in to have a look. Ask for estimates first and look-out for cowboys.
