CUT!! please read and reply!?

Question

alot of people at my school have resorted to cutting themselves because that is how they want to deel with their pain.. i want to show them that they really are not alone in the world. so can u please tell me if u know some one who has cut or if u do/have cut and why!!!???! thanks! it means alot!

I used to cut, actually the last time was in march of 2006, a year ago now.... But, I used to cut because the physical pain helped to alleviate the emotional pain i was feeling at the time,, it eases it a bit...And to bleed is to feel that you are still alive though you want to be dead so bad... To want to kill ones self but still not yet be able to fully follow through with suicide... It's still very hard to explain it to someone though because the emotions are so raw and deep... I've cut and burned myself, physically harmed myself, and the best advice i can give if you want them to feel comfartable enough to not harm themselves no more, is to help them learn a different route to exprees those negative emotions in a positive way, like to write, though most cutters already write,, but, after writtng, make a copy n then burn one of them, to be destructive in a positve manner where no physical harm comes to anyone,, screamming is a good route if you dont mind people around you thinking youre nuts, but, in there books we'd be nuts if they caught us cutting anyways, sooo... those are two good helpful routes... and exercise, but it would be hard possibly to get them to dedicate themselves to that, but it works... tell them that you are there for them, and if they ever need to call, to call you and then go do something so that they can have someone around that doesnt agrivate them, give them structure, its different than being alone n able to cut yourself when you got some one dragging you around town,,lol... i hoped this was helpful for the persons in your concern... I'm good friends with a girl who cut herself in high school. She said she did it to 'feel something'. She also admits she had low self esteem and was in a way punishing herself for being who she was. She grew out of it eventually and today feels a little silly for having done it.

Unfortunately, I don't know that there is a lot you can do to help other than bring it to the attention of someone like a counselor.

I do. I did it my first time about a week ago. People at my school do it too and they say it works. It seams wrong but I decided to try it. I don't know if it counts. I don't draw blood. I just make deep scratches with the edge of scissors or a plastic steak knife. I think I'm going to stop. I can't explain it.

when i was in school i was too busy having fun and talking to my friends and looking at and talking to all the girls and doing actual school work and playing tennis basketball and many other fun things after school ...there was no time for anything but fun and good times and all
what in the world is wrong bc there is 10 times more things to do and have in this world today...

My daughter knew a few people who have done that. She, herself, have councelled them about why its not good and how it leaves scars, etc. I think they need a real friend who will listen to them and not judge,plus some professional councelling. You might even want to go along with your friend.

any one tht feels a need to harm themselves should seek emergency Pschycological help. And make sure the parents know, as well as school offocials,,, do the friend a favor,,,,,narc them to the school, so they can help,,,,,,,,,PLEASE!
