i think it's quite true. if it's out of sight it's easier to forget.

Hi,
it really depends on what it is. If it's something simple like a chocolate bar, then not having it in sight can help, although sometimes you still need strong wil power, but if you never see chocolate or are exposed to the influences then I believe it probably would be more out of mind. However when it comes to something more complex like a human, out of sight can often mean they are more in your thoughts because you spend your time missing them a lot, esp if someone has passed away close to you, it is because they are out of sight that they are very much in mind. So I kind of think it depends on what it is that is out of sight.

Indeed you could also say - putting your head in the sand and hoping for the best. Its a proverb that can be used in many ways - my mom always used it whenever she wanted me to clean the place up. But if you apply this to everyday life the you could also be heading for trouble - out of sight out of mind - hide the bills; the kids etc then life is a bed of roses until you find the thorns :-)

That is the why advertisers spend millions to keep their products in your face and on your mind .
When it comes to love, if it's real, you will never get them out of your mind even when out of your sight.

It can many times be very sad but true It could in some cases be a selfish way of looking at it when it comes to people.
If it is items then sometimes this is good but you must realise that you will have to deal with all scenarios

'I think the saying "out of sight, out of mind " means if you can't see something you don't think about it. But I don't think that's necessarily true.

For babies under a certain age is actually true. You can be playing with a toy in front of them and they want it, but you can hide it in front of them under a blanket and they lose interest because as far as they are concerned if they can't see it, its not there.
Only after a few months old will they actually look for the toy

that its true for somethings and not for others.....it depends on what it is....if your trying not to think about it you probably wil so out of sight doesnt make it out of mind.....but when you put something away than you are more likely to forget you have it....and being apart from some one makes the heart grow fonder.....that is true (i know/ personal experiance)

True in some instances but what about "absence makes the heart grow fonder"? There's a saying to cover all eventualities and reading too much into them is going to drive you mad.

Very true. Teenagers are a pro at this. If they forget their homework then they don't have to do it. Or how about cleaning up their room and throwing everything under the bed or in the closet. Can't see it, it must be clean. yeah right
