Gays strongly opposed to the Salvation Army affectionalty known as the Sally Anns, because they are an Evangelical Chapter of the Christan Church and do not subscibe to the Homosexual doctrin Much of this intolerance is based on intolerance and bigotry based on who some one is and their beliefs. Some baseful bell ringers have even been verbally abused by the b....ll ringersin the Gay Villiage. Looks like the people who scream Homophobia have their own phobia? Maybe we should start calling them SallyAnnphobics?

Fearless, Fearless, Fearless, you little silly:

A.) Kinsey has not been proved wrong as you claim, please read a book first before making claims like that.

B.) That the Sally Ann helps a lot of people is not in doubt, I myself have contributed annually to their drives, both Christmas and Clothing drives.

C.) If some gays say nasty to things, that is unfortunate, but you get all kinds in every segment of the population.

D.) Considering your deep hatred of gays and that you yourself have been completely intolerant, have advocated violence and more, you are hardly in a position to even have an opinion on this subject one way or the other.

E.) Now I will let you spout what you wish, as is your right in a free society, but remember, that sword cuts both ways.

F.) Finally stop making things up, I have seen the Sally Ann in the Village in Toronto many times and have NEVER seen them ever abused.

Now either back up your statements with real proof, not anecdotal b.s., or kindly just run along.

BTW, the is the second time I've had to chastise you on being dishonest and frankly I am getting a little tired of you being wilfully ignorant.

No one has to tolerate intolerance. The Salvation Army has said much against homosexuals that is hurtful and just plain wrong-headed. That obviously makes homosexuals not too fond of the Salvation Army. What do they expect?

Here's an analogy. Suppose you were in an organization that proclaimed that white people were superior and should be in all the top jobs, but blacks, while not hated, were lower people fine for manual jobs. How do you think you would be received if you went to a black neighborhood and rang your freaking bell? Hmm. You've made them mad, then try to pull "wait, all you black people are mad at me? Then you're just as bad as I am". That's a crock of @#$@%! and you know it.

PS - it's the bell ringing that I really can't stand. I will never give a penny to this organization simply because of the noise polution they inject on every corner in town during the otherwise happy holiday season.

I won't condone specific actions by any individual people, as these are isolated incidents (as even you admit: "SOME have been..." in a very specific location. TRUST me, I can find specific incidents far more numerous of people who identify as "christian" assaulting gay people). What I will say, though, is that I don't have to give this organization my money when there are other organizations who don't have discriminatory policies. Also, if I'm not mistaken, the Salvation Army is a little weird about helping people who aren't Christians. So, I don't know why a Christian organization by and for Christians is going to get upset when people who aren't their specific sect of christianity won't support them.

It seems to come as a surprise for many people, but unless state law says otherwise (and there are only about 12 states that do say otherwise) it is perfectly legal to fire or refuse to hire someone because of their sexual orientation. But there is Federal protection against discrimination in employment based on race/national origin. The US legislature voted about ten years ago on whether to include sexual orientation as a protected class in terms of employment protection. This bill - known as the Employment Non-Discrimination Act - failed by about one vote. Congress is considering bringing it up for a vote again this fall. I don't know on what ground Scotty above won a case on this issue. Perhaps it was brought under state law in one of the few states that provides this kind of employment protection.

1) I sure hope you meant 1.5 mil people...not just the "1.5 people" you mentioned in your question.
2) They're not called "Sally Anns" in the USA, they're known by their full name here.
3) What exactly is the "homosexual doctrine?" I don't believe I'm familiar with that apostile, what was his name, Bruce?
4) Hey, look, if they're going to be "intolerant" of US, than personally I say..."Do onto others are they are doing on to you!" They're supposed to be a "Christian" organization, so where's the "unconditional" love Christians boast about so much?

I rang the bell for the Salvation Army for four hours in the cold and they only helped 1.5 people. That is awful. I didn't know I was supposed to strongly oppose this group either, I mustn't have gotten the memo.

I think the Salvation Army does a great job at helping others in all types of situations. Why would someone want to apose that? I surely wouldn't.

Why should the gay community allow people who oppose us to feel welcomed into OUR communities??

Where is the Gay Village located??

Please post a link to show that the Kinsey Study has been disproven.

Every group has it's idiots and buffoons who go out of their way to make a lot of noise and pretend to represent the rest of the group. Most Christians are not anti-gay fundamentalists and most gays live quietly under the radar and respect or at least tolerate other people's beliefs (and prejudices).

its amazing how many stupid people are here, they didn't read your entire post and realise that you also said 1.5 million people have been fed and housed a year by sally ann. How stupid can a person be and how many stupid people will harp on a simple typo rather than adress the issue brought up in the post. By the way, I saw the TV show years ago that Kinsey went on and admitted that He " fudged the numbers" on the kinsey report. Its amazing that people haven't kept up on the news. it was in 1985 that he admitted lying on national TV.
