American and international heroes. This practice has almost stopped in the last two or three generations. I am not talking about the monuments on the mall, but the statutues to lessor known heroes that were enshrined with pride. Have we grown up as a people, or, are we to cynical a people to admire others, instead, of ourselves? What say you?

Where do you get the idea that erecting statues has almost stopped? Search for database of statues in DC and you'll find many from the last decade, even.
