MedicAid/MediCal will cover OB/gyn exams, pap smears and birth control pills. Planned Parenthood sells samples, which is illegal. Samples from drug companies/drug reps are intended to be given for free to patients, not sold for a profit.
I'd call around and see which OB/gyn in your area accepts your MedicAid. Some OB/gyns will give you enough samples to last one year, others might just give you one pack.
You will need to call MedicAid and ask "which birth control pills are covered?" so your copay at the pharmacy is minimal or possibly free. You should know which pills are covered on your plan BEFORE you go to the OB/gyn, you need to tell the OB which ones are covered by MedicAid so you don't have to pay an arm and a leg for them at the pharmacy.
Make those calls and find out as much as you can. Best of luck to you and take care.

When I was a social worker, the state (WV) covered abortions for minors. (Those adjudicated delinquent and put in state's custody.) I certainly hope pap smears and birth control would be covered.

Absolutely! And you can choose a physician that accepts Medicaid instead of going to the dreaded County Health Department. Just call around to find out which doctor takes it. Good for you!
