How old would you class "young kids" as?
I'd like to be reffered to as a young person...
And you can't really stereotype all young people to be dumb, when there are a lot of itelligent young people out there - Yes, some may be "stupid" or "dumb" at times. However you do get adults like that aswell..
And depending on how old this person was, if they've never seen anyone do that before, although it is something that doesn't really need to be understood at a young age - then they may have got confused.

i'm getting what you're asserting. i'm an 18 year previous woman and in extreme college I observed this continuously. maximum of my classmates have been baffled at my capacity to spell each and every thing wisely, with out looking it up. i think of it has something to do with the actuality that babies do not spend adequate time interpreting. i've got consistently been a huge reader, which has better my vocabulary exceptionally. yet in spite of this, while i'm texting I now and lower back form like that because of fact the two, A) this is swifter or B) i opt to jot down it the way i might certainly say it if i became speaking in individual(slang).

because someone gave them 6.29 for a 5.29 bill. Did you ask for change for a dollar? why do arrogant people feel so superior? how are young people stupid? are you talking about these kids that were raised on TV, Computers, Playstations, ect ? please, if this is a serious question, don't be so impatient. Someday that same kid is gonna tell you to get your Blue--Haired butt off the Highway and turned the dang turn signal off.

This person is not accustomed to having to do the math. He is programmed to give the change back according to what the til says. The til gives him one number and you give him another - the result? he just can't compute. When I was a kid we had a grocery store. The cash register was very old (like when the power went out, you got out the hand crank - THAT old!) it gave the total and you had to count backwards and then count the change back to them forward. When I was faced with a modern til years later I kept counting backwards and giving the wrong change. I'm not stupid, just bassackwards programming! My point is, the kid wasn't necessarily stupid, just ignorant. I see it happen with checkers all the time. They work as fast as possible and then some intelligent unsuspecting wise**s throws a stick in their spoke - Bam! Ummmmm.....
I am guessing, however that that one particular incident wasn't all you were referring to. Kids are not REQUIRED to think on their own, with computers doing it all, and as humans, being inherently lazy, just don't, when not required. That, and the fact that you probably don't remember being young, hormonal and scatterbrained!
Kids need guidance - and patience! Next time perhaps you could see it as an opportunity to teach & to help rather than to criticize.

I think that saying they are stupid is rather harsh. Inexperienced is more accurate and to the point.
To some, simple mathematics is a complete foreign language.
Even the father of the theory of relativity had problems balancing a check book yet, was a genius in higher mathematics.
Lighten up...will ya!

I'm going to assume that you live in the US, where $2 bills are uncommon. Therefore I assume that you either gave him a $5 and a $1 and then change, or a $5 and $1.29 in change. Either way you gave him an extra dollar that wasn't needed. I always appreciated it when the bill was $4.29 and people would give me $5.29, but in your case either YOU were the stupid one, or you wanted a dollar bill for your change, or you wanted change for your dollar bill. However if you did do it on purpose, you should've stated that explicitly, and I think he was legitimately confused.

It's not that their dumb, did you even bother to tell the kid that you wanted one dollar back in change, or did you somehow think that he could read your dumb mind. Something tells me you didn't communicate well enough dummy.

Because of No Child Left Behind. Every kid is being shoved through school with massive testing and no real learning. Teachers are teaching for tests, not real life.
