Do you mean a flue liner? If so, you are going to need ladders to get on the roof. The flue liner is held on the chimney with a clamp plate and a terminal. Remove these and if the flue isn't attached to anything in the fire place, then start to pull the flue liner out. You will need to cover the fireplace with a blanket or sheet to stop any soot and debris falling into the room. The flue liner is about 27ft. long so be careful for any cables that are running near the chimney. Some electric companies run electric cables across the roof. You will als need to wear thick gloves because the liner has very sharp edges. The scrap value is nil as it is only stainless steel.

If it is a tubular metal liner which most are , first disconnect the bottom of the tube from the appliance or roof of the fire place. Then up to the roof, remove the cowl or cap from the top. there may be a bat across the top of the chimney stack , if so disconnect the tube from this. Then all being well you should be able to pull the whole tube liner up to the roof leaving an unlined chimney.Note that if you are going to use this chimney for a different type of heater or an open fire you will probably need to fit a new chimney pot to the stack as it is usual to remove the original pot when fitting the tube liner.
