The group is Sweet, the singer was Brian Connolly. This was something of a manufactured group, as the members were put together by the songwriting team of Mike Chapman and Nicky Chinn, specifically to cash in on the popularity of other glam-rock bands such as Queen and David Bowie.

Yes, it was a group called Sweet. A glam-metal band called Krokus did a remake in the '80's, and it was featured by Tia Carrere's band in "Wayne's World."
