I am not qualified to get UI/Unemployment Insurance due to firing, but I want to know if I can apply for State Unmployment instead.

The best thing to do is call your loca unemployment office and they can tell you how you can or why you wouldn't qualify.

It was always best policy to start unemployment benefits because you don't know how long you will be out of work. The bad news is: the amount you get is based on your previous annual income. If you were unemployed or a student, there isn't much coming. And, if you were employed less than 90 days there is nothing coming.
