Please, please, please help!
I'm going home tomorrow from Uni and unfortunately I had a VERY drunken walk back. Ended up falling on the pavement and damaging most of the right side of my face. My cheek is bruised and also there is lots of grazing. My lip is swollen and cut internally. I also appear to have a very small chip out of the top bit of a tooth. It's not noticeable but I can feel it.

Yes, I know I only have myself to blame but it REALLY hurts. Also I’m seeing the parents tomorrow and I have a feeling I may be killed!

Any help to reduce pain and appearance of my face would be thoroughly appreciated! If you know how long I will look like this for would also be great. (Or maybe not so!)

I'm a little concerned with the tissue damage your describing.Allthough not delicate.Facial bones tend to fracture a little easier than other bones. It probably would not be a bad idea to have someone look at it! But then again, If it was just a little fall and you feel there is no damage, here are some things that have worked for me.
I agree with the other poster's.Witch Hazel is excellent for the bruising and grating.I Would suggest you go out and buy a small sack of peas to use for an ice pack. The peas conform to the shape of your face and reduce any undue pressure on the injury.Otherise ice will work just fine.
As for the lip... this is not going to taste good but, it reduces the swelling dramatically.Take an uncoated aspirin (regular aspirin, no substitutes) crush it till it becomes a powder.Place one small drop of water into the powder, and mix it until it becomes a paste.Place the paste on your lip for as long as you can.Its a little trick Iearned in nursing school.
Anti-inflammitories such as ibuprophen or motrin will help with the pain and swelling.Vitamin E will help if your worried about scar's from the grating.Wait for the wounds to close before you start that Vitamin E regimen.
Because your young.. I would guess that depending on the bruising,at the most...It would take a fortnight to heal.Maybe less.
Hope you feel better!!

You have gotten lots of advice already.I`ll just add this...
Get some Arnica C30 from a natural health / herbal store. It is homeopathic, made from a flower (called ..... Arnica !!!), and has no side effects . It helps your body heal much faster. Really this is not some weird unknown remedy, it is used all over the world, and is the number ONE thing to use for any injury / surgery / bleeding etc. It would have been ideal if you had taken it immediately, but its never too late. The swelling will definitely go down, the cuts will heal more quickly. But it won`t make everything disappear by tomorrow. It will probably make it look a bit less brutal though. The people at the store will tell you how often to take it, don`t worry - you can`t overdose on this. Take it at least a few times a day, not at the same time as food, esp. coffee.
Also try using a cream for scrapes - with panthenol or something. Ask at the pharmacy - they can recommend something because I`m in Germany and I don`t know the brands there. There are also creams with Arnica, which would really really help.
Good luck, get well soon.
PS: the more Arnica you use, the faster everything will heal.

Ha ha.
I did something similar a few years ago but i smashed my glasses also in the fall!
You don't have to tell your parents the full details- say you slipped on wet leaves or something and you're not the only one to have slipped on this problem area blah blah blah........ this is the line I used. Just don't say it was outside your flat because every time they come over thay will say thing like, "careful everyone, it can get very slippy here".
As for the bruising I would apply ice packs to the skin to reduce swelling and visit a chemist and buy some arnica- a herbal remedy that will help speed up the healing process. I'm afraid to say that it will probably take up to a week to heal.
Good luck x

I would recommend Aloe -Vera "First" a spray and then to use Aloe -Vera gelly which is bought in a tube, you can get copies of this from leading herbal stores or the real thing is from F.L.P. Aloe Vera is one of the best healers you can get. I had major facial injuries from an accident in a truck. My eye was out and had 30 plus stitches above my eye, you can not see a mark and I have good eye sight. after the eye was put back. used this every few hours even in the eye. As for your tooth you will have to see a dentist, since teeth do not heal themselves. God gave us a wonderful body, look after it use natural healers, if you end up with a skin infection use propolis cream, the best natural antibiotic you can find

Your parents will be concerned about your face and may be disappointed on how you did it. My daughter fell and bruised her face although not drunk she was acting the fool.
I was upset because she could have been badly hurt.
Rinse your mouth in a salt solution to stop infection, I assume you have cleaned the grazes now leave them alone no picking or you will scar. The tooth will wear in eventually unless you have chipped it too badly in which case see your dentist.
Take paracetamol if you need help with the pain.
It took a week for the daughters swelling to go down and a further week for the bruising to fade.
Good luck with your parents--how about taking them a bottle of wine to lessen the shock !!!!!!!

Try ice packs to reduce swelling. You could also see the chemist and get some arnica tablets, its a homeopathic thing which is supposed to be good for swelling and bruises. Witch hazel solution is also good for bruises, you can get a gel you put on. Try taking ibuprofen (nurofen) for the pain and swelling.
You could always lie and say it was a sports injury??!!

Tell them a "half truth" don't mention that you were drunk, just say that you fell. You wouldn't be lying, just not telling the whole truth.

By the way, put ice on your face, it will take the swelling down and expect to keep the bruises for 3 - 5 days.
