It is based in UK but the top breeders are all on it and it is a friendly and welcoming site with all the info you'll ever need explained simply.

Here is a rundown of the Q's you asked so far-
Betta care is all in the details. They need clean, warm water and enough space to swim freely. You can set up a tank with a small heater and filter very cheaply. If you want 2 betta's, add a divider down the middle and they will live in the seperate compartments without killing each other.

Female bettas are short finned and are almost always mistaken for plakats. The only way to be sure you have a female and not a male plakat is to put the fish side by side and watch for one to get VERTICAL bars. These are breeding bars and only females get the.

When a betta is stressed, they will show HORIZONTAL bars and this happens to both male and female.

Betta's should never be put in a tank with nippy fish like Angels, Gouramis and barbs.

There are many tail types of betta so do your research before you just buy one at Walmart or you'll miss out!

What ever you do do NOT put the two bettas together in the same tank. (unless they are both female) and even then you will have to keep a eye on them as they might not get along either.

Go online to get pics of the males and females. I think the males have more fin and have more color. Do NOT put 2 male betas in the same tank, they will fight and kill eachother.
