I tried nubbys also. I didn't like them they seemed to leak. I always use gerber sippy cups that change colors when they are cold or hot. Maybe he isn't really ready for them yet. Don't give up keep offering them. My mom really likes the playtex sippy cups.

I'm not sure they make them any more but Pur ( I believe that's how it's spelled) made one that came with several attachments to use as they grow..from a nipple to the sippy cup type, then it becomes a regular cup. It was really wonderful for my kids..Mom to 3.

I'm not a mommy but I am a daddy.
Can I still give an answer?
Gerber makes a soft top, spill proof sippy cup. I bought ours from Savemart and Longs.

I like the ones with handles.. they tend to use them easily. As for the tops, I didn't really mind what the top was made of (except hard tops can hurt if they bang their gums).. I found what mattered is that the holes weren't too big or they tended to choke easier....
So I go for small holes, non spill, handles (optional) and not a really hard plastic.

My kids used those Playtex no-spill ones but I didn't start them on sippy cups until they were 12 months. If your child is just chewing on the cup and isn't sure what to do with it, maybe he isn't ready to use one.

maybe he's just not ready for a sippy cup yet. my daughters' pediatrician didn't recommend upgrading to a sippy cup until 12 months. we started out with the soft plastic top nubby's, and they did just fine.

Gerber makes a nice one with two handle on each side of the cup with rubber grips making it easier for baby to hold on to. They are durable when thrown on the ground & are easy to wash. They come is nice colors too...blue shades for boys & pink & purple for girls.

I like the playtex no-spills.
It took my son a few months to figure out what it did... but he drinks like a pro now.
Just give it time...
