Horses, you can involve trading, breeding, racing, ect...
Or any other live stock would be good, but preferably Horses I think would be the best.

I own over two thousand games and none of them involve cereal grass. It is for that reason I vote for sorghum.
For the record: Pit by Parker Brothers involves wheat, barley, rice and corn. Hacienda by Rio Grande Games involves cattle, sheep and pigs. Across the Board by MPH is a horse racing game. My opponents are old goats.

Horses - they can run wild, you can corral them, you can ride them, they can race, etc. You could incorporate their activities and abilities in all sorts of ways into a fun board game! Good luck.

Pigs! They are my most favorite animal ever. The board could look so totally awsome.
