With a blow dryer set on high, blow hot air on it and wipe. This may help to spread the wax and make it more uniform. If it doesnt work and you like your table, maybe you can sand it uniformly and then apply a laquer or simply stain it with a fine wood barnish or stain.
Hope it works for you!!!

if heavily soiled ,paint and greece sand down with fine sand paper until it disappears then re seal the surface, I know of people who use wire wool in stead of sand paper and turps,I think the smell of the turps linger.s and can effect the value also other's use bleach this whitens the wood and the effect is not the same,it's hard work but well worth the time and effort to use the sand paper

Murphy's oil soap and a kitchen scrubber. I would re-wax it afterward if you want a soft gloss finish.
