My nieces has to do a project on the American Revolution. We are going to cover the declaration on it. But it wants some historial sites and the historial events that took place. So i know the declartion is a BIG historial event, but i need the site. I'm think Philadephia, but i'm not so sure.

Thomas Jefferson wrote it in Philadelphia, possibly at some inn. It was signed in the courtroom of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's then-new government building, now called Independence Hall. The constitutional convention of 1787 met and signed the constiturtion in the legislative chamber of the same building.

It was written in a tavern in Fredericksburg, Virginia although it probably took a number of days for Thomas Jefferson to write it and it probably wasn't all written in one place at one time.
It was signed in what is now called Independence Hall in Philadelphia.
Interestingly enough, the July 4th date we so religiously celebrate is probably a false date. John Adams stated in his diary that the 2nd of July would go down in the history of the world. But then somehow the second of July doesn't sound nearly as good as the fourth of July.

A great movie to go rent for some pocorn-style history about the declaration is "National Treasure." It is suitable for younger children, and it has some fun historical trivia in it (As long as you can distinguish between the fact and fiction).
