I just got a fantastic raise at my job! It will really help because my husband is disabled due to a work injury. However, the amount of my raise per month, is what his health insurance will begin costing me. I am so happy for my raise, but bummed that it is all going towards this expense. Can you help me look at in a different light so I don't feel so depressed about the whole thing? (Yes, he is also on Medicare, but we need this other insurance to help cover additional medical needs).

Please don't get me wrong. I am very thankful for what we DO have. I know there is alot going bad in this world. My poor husband has been through so much though, it just scares me that one day I may not be able to take care of him like I hoped our lives would have been.

well look at this way, one bill down that was not last month..and your raise will keep your husband's medical bills paid and the money you were spending on it before can go toward other things. such as a vacation (even if it's only a night out) be grateful that he has medical coverage, alot of people don't...think of all the people who are sick and can't afford to go see a doctor (like my family) too poor to afford insurance/doctor bills and to rich to get medical assistance ... we are called the working poor.

Well, look at this way - are you better off or not, on the whole. Sounds to me like you are. So, you can feel good about being better off right? Think were you would be without the raise.

Maybe you got the raise for that same reason. Somebody up there must be looking out for you and him. Imagine if you wouldn't have gotten the raise? How would you have paid? That is a blessing. Look at it that way. Plus he is still alive.

Well done you for the raise. try not to be disheartened - it's another bill covered, and I'm sure your life has much to be thankful for. At least it's all going to a good cause.
