The fashion article below was much kinder in stating the it was "strangely proportioned jacket and pocketed dress." and warned designers to keep that in mind when dressing a "normal" sized woman.
If that is the reason, Jennifer needs to fire her stylist and hire Queen Latifah's.
Personally, I don't even think Kate Moss or Heidi Klum could have pulled the look off an made it look good.
Here is a link to a pic of her wearing it...basically the dress itself was not flattering, the color of the dress and jacket not match or compliment each other at all, but moreover, it was that hideous lame' bolero jacket that made it look like she was auditioning for a role of one of William Shatner's groupies for the 60's version of "Star Trek. It was a definite "Oh No She Dih-Dun't" moment. My first thought when I saw it was "Beam me up, Scotty!" She would have done better to ditch that jacket in the limo on the way there and she would not have been bashed as much as she was.

The critics could not stand the jacket...they would've preferred if she didn't have the coat on...i thought it was a fashion risk, glad that she tried something different from everyone else at the Oscars but it just didn't work...
loved her dress at the grammy's though...

All the fashion fanatics hated the bolero that Jennifer Hudson wore. I agreed. It didn't look good with the dress she wore.

The jacket was so ugly!Not appropriate for the Oscars.And the dress wasn't all that either.The dress was boring and the jacket was freaky.Not a good combination.

The critics didn't like the jacket she had on over it, but I didn't think there was anything wrong with how she looked. It seems like they have nothing better to do than nit pick how everyone's dressed.

I thought she looked great, but I read she thought she looked really fat in it. She wishes she had chosen a different dress.
