I have been at my job for almost six years, but I feel that I have lot's more education than the job requires. I have been applying for jobs since January but have not been successful.

What should I do?

Update your resume. Begin quietly looking for something you like, when you find it quit. You owe your employer nothing.
At the same time if they've been treating you with respect and you just want out. Don't burn any bridges. Just look until you find something an leave on a positive note.

I have been at mine for over 10 years and I am feeling the need to flee also. I have tried to figure out what I REALLY want to do and what I CAN do. We all want that perfect job that we are happy going to and get compensated well for. My present position I get paid pretty good but of course, I want more. Not to mention I have a lot of experience at what I presently do, but I don't want to do this anymore. So I had to rethink, and possibly lower the expectations. I am comfortable in my present position, so I have time to look. I updated my resume and posted it on the likes of Career Builder and Yahoo Jobs. Believe it or not I am getting calls. It does take time though.

I wish you the best of luck!! Hang in there!

hang in there...something will come along. Keep applying....it took my hubby 5 months to find a job that he was happy with (he was with his prior company 17 years). Keep your current job for your expenses until then.
