Don't you think that it's a hint for people fishing for giant squids to leave them in their habitat or something if they are always dying when they come to "our world"?

They die before they reach the surface because of the great pressure differences between where they live in the deep oceans (dozens of atmospheres),and the much lesser pressures (1 atmosphere)at the surface of the water!!!

More likely it is the fact that the only giant squids we read about are the dead ones that get caught up in fishing nets. They are already dead when caught.

The Asian fishermen that catch squid for a living catch them live for food. We don't read about these because there is no news story to them. The dead squid are toxic to humans (full of ammonia) so they are handed over for research instead of used for sale.

the pressure changes so quickly (at the bottom of the ocean there is heavy pressure)...if we were sealed up in a submarine at the bottom of the ocean and we swam up from the bottom we would die before we even reached the top..which is why when we stay in a decompression room for some time to adjust our bodies.

They die because they are used to the pressure of the ocean. Without that pressure, they die.
