I have an offer of employment but can't start yet as it's a government and job and they have to do security checks up to three months.

Yes you do, as you don't have a job yet in theory. In order to be allowed to sign, they need proof of three efforts to find work per week. It's the condition of receiving the money. Just make up what you have been doing. They never check!

No you dont. I was in exactly the same position. I got a job working for GCHQ when I was in receipt of JSA and had to get the checks etc.
As long as you have have accepted the job, and have a written job offer from them you should be fine.

Yes you have to be available for work and actively seeking employment for any period you are claiming for. You could take temporary work until you start your new job.

if the job your waiting for is gauranteed then no you dont have to, anyway i wouldnt
