Why are stepmothers sterotyped as wicked?

Because a lot of times the kids refuse to accept an authoritative roll from someone that has come into their father's life.

I have step kids and yea... I'm classified as an evil stepmom. But as I like to say, if they respected me and my roll at OUR home instead of resisting what I say, things would be easier.
