A book I was reading, back in 1982 or '83, about a young girl who discovers a dollhouse that is a replica of the house an old woman lives in... there is a secret to the dollhouse, I believe there is also a key.

Someone told me it may be The Dollhouse Murders, but I do not think that's the one... I definitely do NOT recall the dolls in the dollhouse talking to a young girl.

It was a mystery story... I think I recall the dollhouse had something to do w/ the old woman, but I can not be sure. I also recall a secret compartment in the dollhouse, I think?

I do not know when the book was first published... I can probably assume the late '70s or early '80s.

If i am correct, it is a scary book. I read it 4 years ago in 2nd grade. I think it is the Dollhouse Murderers.

It's a book by Andre Norton called Octagon Magic. If that's not it, try Red Hart Magic, but I'm pretty sure it was Octagon Magic with the dollhouse.

Other books in that series that are good include Lavender Green Magic (involves a maze), Fur Magic, and Dragon Magic.
