I’ve been trying to get out now for a while, but have been struggling with my interview technique which I think may be letting me down, does anybody have any ideas as to how I may improve my chances of getting a better job, I’m looking to move to an add agency, as it’s something I wanted to do from leaving university but I got stuck in my current role. I have 4 years of experience, would it be worth me going back to collage to study further or should I just keep on looking and hope my chances improve? Please help…

What they are after is your excellent portfolio and your experience in ad agencies.

If you have an excellent portfolio, the next thing you need to prove is you can work very fast to meet their quick turnaround. This seems to be very important.
There's no point going back to college in order to prove above two points. It's better to make a good portfolio in work environment. You might have to accept a slightly junior position at first but once you prove your competence I guess you should be able to move up or find a better job more quickly.

Also, you need to go to the right recruitment agencies who specialise in ad agencies. If you are in London contact Major Player in Covent Garden and Gabriele Skelton near Goodge street.

the best way to improve interview techniques is to keep having interviews. I used to apply for jobs i didnt even want to get back in the swing of interviews, it is a pain but definitely helps.

just be confident in your abilities.

Be positive, actively seek out opportunities from the trade magazines and have lots of interviews! Practice makes perfect.
