Okay, I think you should keep doing it 'till you make a really funky pattern then you can label it as modern art and tell people you paid loads for it! In all honesty I don't think that there's much you can do for a scorch mark so I reckon a rug is your best bet, sorry!

If you have the same carpet in a closet, your only solution is to plug the damage with a piece from the closet. Bear in mind that the closet piece will not show wear like the damaged area, and not match color and texture exactly.

To replace the closet, take a swatch of the existing carpet with measurements and shop stores for remnants as close as you can find to the color.

If you decide to do this, cut a small piece from a corner, find a rem for the closet, then call for an experienced installer to do the work. Having the replacement for the closet will not entail a second trip for the installer, and be less labor.

Depending on where you live, this may cost $75.00 up to $125.00, usual minimums apply.

If the pile is burnt, I would call a professional carpet fitter to see if they could cut a square out and replace it with a patch from under a settee where the damage wouldn't be seen. Definitely not a DIY job though.

If you're not insured, but you have a spare bit of carpet somewhere you could cut out the burnt bit carefully and replace it with the spare bit cut to the right size and shape. You might be able to use a bit from, say, under a cupboard.

I guess it has left a nice burnt mark?? Have you got a cream carpet (or light)?

I did this a few years ago with a pair of hair straighteners (i left them on) and the burnt y carpet, My mum fixed the problem and belached the carpet to get rid of the burn. Hope that helps

Nothing I know can remove the burn. This happened in a flat I rent and I had to replace the carpet as a local carpet fitter told me it was knackered!

If you can find a piece of carpeting that is an exact match. You can cut out the burn spot and glue in another piece the exact same size.

Bin it and replace it lovey. No other way!!! Claim on the insurance if you have any. That is after all why you pay the premium.
