Is it ok to cut the string shorter so it doesn't show? I'm worried it'll show when I'm getting changed for sports or swimming. I've tried tucking it out of the way but sometimes it still shows. Please Help.

I wouldn't recommend it... Anyway, how can anyone see it, you are wearing underwear right?
There is a picture floating around the Internet of a girl wearing a thong in the beach showing her string... so sure, i guess in a case like that you would be careful, you can cut half of it but no more, you gotta leave a bit there so you can later pull out!

If you cut it too short you might have trouble pulling it out, but there is NO reason that you CAN'T cut it shorter if you want. Or, you could just tuck it inside. Just make sure you can still pull the darn thing out cuz if you can't you will have to make a very embarrassing trip to the ER. So, I would recommend against cutting it and more advise towards tucking it in a bit if you really need to. But really, I have worn them for years while swimming, changing, etc and have never given it a second thought and nobody has ever noticed the string. I think you are concerned for nothing.

I don't see anything wrong with cutting the string a little shorter but I don't understand why it's showing. I've been wearing tapons since I was a young teen and I've been swimming and never has the string showed.

I would not cut the string as it can unravel if you cut it. If don't want it to show just tuck it all the way inside your vagina and then use your hands/fingers to remove the tampon. If you are wearing underwear during sports it shouldn't show and as for swimming if you are that worried about it wear underwear under your swimsuit.

I wouldn't cut the string if I were you. Keep trying to keep it tucked away. The string is there so you are able to pull the tampon out. If you cut the string, you won't be able to pull it out.

Hi Donna,
Don't cut the string. It has a knot which aids removal when the time comes to change it. So I suggest that you leave it as it is. If you want, you can tuck it in between your libia. It works for me, even when I'm in my swimming attire.

I'd be worried about it moving a little too far north if you know what I mean. That would suck. Literally. Maybe you should just find a move private place to change during the days you are menstruating, just to avoid an embarassing trip to the Gyn.

who would be looking? the only danger in cutting the string shorter would be if it moved too far up your vagina and then you might have difficulty getting it out

I guess you can but dont cut it too short.....but I've never had this problem, once its tucked away it has never come out

I suggest not, but if you must, short enough so you can see it and keep it tucked under.
