I took a friend's dog for a walk tonight. He (the dog) doesn't have any idea about what goes on in the news but is as happy as any creature can be. Then, I see informed people weighed down by reality...and I see ignorami not having a care in the world.
In the modern world and particularly in SA, being informed does seem to stand in stark opposition to happiness.

Do you want to be happy or right? Every individual can make the choice. I've chosen to be right by being informed...and has to live with it .

Well, for me, that used to be totally true....
Before I came onto this forum, the only time I'd pick up a newspaper was to do a crossword puzzle/ sports page and read jokes. Television, I hardly watched... and as for radio, music was all I played... 'Til I came here of course and I wondered what on earth was going on. I think at times I wish I hadn't discovered this section... Vango is right, some mad, bitter people spend too much time in here arguing about the same old topics over and over. I prefer drifting away at times and asking non political things. Dont get me wrong, I am informed and aware, but a bit of ignorance is bliss...it allows one to live their life and not be constantly paranoid.

If you don't watch the news or read the newspaper then you don't get so paranoid all the time but I prefer to know what's going on around me. It's better that way cause in this country you must always be alert and well aware of your surroundings. We don't live in a dream world. This is the REAL world, so stay alert people.

It would be easier, but following an ignorant approach to life in this country would be detrimental in that you continually have to be on your toes if you don't want to become a victim of crime or not be aware of all governments racist BEE and AA policies.
If we want to keep our homes, business' and jobs, we must stay continually alert.
Those whites that chose the blissful ignorant approach to this country are those beggars you seen in the CBD's of our cities.
