When we when swimming the other day, I was looking at my wife and got a nice warm feeling. Well, things happen when I get that feeling and I was getting into the pool with my wife and my 8 yr old daughter said "Daddy, your suit is all puffed out." I think I tried to change the subject. I don't remember what I said. Maybe I said "Daddy is happy to see Mommy". I honestly don't remember. What would have been the correct response? I was caught off guard with her comment. She knows about the birds and bees. But I don't think she has connected the dots.

I'm modest. Really I am. I'm wasn't parading around saying look at me. I was just sitting on the lounge chair and things just happened as I got into the pool. I can't help it, I'm a man.

hmm...that is a tough one...I would just say nothing...just forget about it unless she brings it up..and if she does it might be better for your wife to talk to her.

I think "Daddy's happy to see mommy" is as close as you can get to honesty at her age. If she knows about the birds and bees, it won't be long before she'll connect the dots. In my opinion, I think it would be great for my children to know that mom and dad make each other happy. They'll also grow up with the security of knowing that mom and dad love each other.

I wont offer and answer to your question since I am 22 and have no kids or qualifications as such. As a virulent young male though I have more than adequate experience with said problem.
SOLUTION:
Wear speedo type trunks AND swimming shorts. Make sure the Sgt Mjr is pointing vetically upwards when you put them on. With moderately fitting trunks on this keeps him in place. Should you gaze loveingly at your wife the baggy shorts will conceal any puffiness.

It sounds like she is old enough being that she knows about the birds and the bees already. One day have your wife sit down with her for a continuation of that talk. Explain to her how things men gets excited and what happens when they do. That is if she is old enough. Use your judgement.
I hope my man gets excited like that about me when he sees me in a suit this summer!

lol, that's funny, my 3yr old ask me "mommy, why dosen't daddy have a "gina" like we do?" it freaked me out. The best thing i came up with was honey that's because daddy has a penis and you and I have vaginas. that seemed to work but i know the time will come when she will not be satisfied with those kind of answers.

your answer was not the best one because she will think that other men that can be around your wife (relatives, guys at the market, neighbors etc) are not happy to see her because they dont get hard. the best thing is to change the subject so fast that she doesnt believe you are trying to ignore her. next time just say you are cold.

I am usually honest but being a parent I would have lied that time. I would have just said that "the chlorine in the pool made my shorts puff up. It won't do that to your swimsuit so don't worry."

She's 8. Your wife better help her connect those dots a LOT closer... and you have to be a LOT more modest.

I'd act like I didn't hear her, that is too much info to explain to a child. In other words I have NO clue what to say...
