All these conservatives have stated that they agree with Al Gore and with the overwhelming majority of climate scientists -- Global warming is real and is caused by human activity.

Do you think this group of conservatives, liberals, and scientists are correct?

It strikes me that the global warming deniers are of the same ilk (although different political orientation) as the 9/11 conspiracists.

They have only the meagerest of analytical faculties, and they cut and paste the same garbage science from the same websites over and over again, without thought, without differentiation, ad nauseum, to the point where you can't even talk to them any more.

All natural phenomena are incredibly complex. If someone develops a scheme for understanding something, whether it be global warming or the collapse of the WTC, they are always small nuggets of data, if viewed in isolation, which do not seem to conform to the overall pattern.

Thus, the global warming denier finds some year in the 16th
Century when Europe was preternaturally warm or it happens to be a cooler summer in Duluth and hysterically cites this as proof that global warming isn't real.

Or they say that Al Gore isn't a scientist (as if he is the only one who believes in global warming). I guess Stephen Hawking doesn't know anything about science either?

I don't think that some of these morons will ever get it.

I don't know, but I know this:

When Al Gore was running for vice president in 1992, he insisted over and over again that the very first thing he would do would be to assemble a team of experts from every field (scientists, industrialists, etc.) to work on developing new alternative energy sources. IN EIGHT YEARS, HE DID NOTHING OF THE SORT. Al Gore's roots are in big oil, and he's a globalist, a hideous combination! Why did they kill the electric car? How can big oil make money off of an electric car?? The "Earth Charter" and "Agenda 21" are not about the environment, they are all about control, mainly by international bankers, over the entire planet.

Global warming is a complex issue.

Reading the popular media can lead a person to conclude that "global warming" is:
o- either a hoax to promote business opportunities, politicians agenda and scientists grant money.....
OR
o- a problem related to overpopulation, industrialization and fossil fuels whose solution options lie in solar power, wind power, geothermal power and nuclear fusion....

However, the correct answer may be altogether different:

NASA has released never-before-seen images that show the sun's magnetic field is much more turbulent and dynamic than previously known. The international spacecraft Hinode, formerly known as Solar B, took the images. Hinode was launched Sept. 23 to study the sun's magnetic field and its explosive energy. National Aeronautics and Space Administration scientists said the spacecraft's uninterrupted high-resolution observations of the sun are expected to have an impact on solar physics comparable to the Hubble Space Telescope's impact on astronomy. "For the first time, we are now able to make out tiny granules of hot gas that rise and fall in the sun's magnetized atmosphere," said Dick Fisher, director of NASA's Heliophyics Division. "These images will open a new era of study on some of the sun's processes that effect Earth, astronauts, orbiting satellites and the solar system." Hinode is a collaborative mission led by
the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency and includes the European Space Agency and Britain's Particle Physics Astronomy Research
Council. NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., managed the development of the Hinode's scientific instrumentation provided by industry and federal agencies.

<<"I do believe there's global warming, yes'' said Giuliani, in response to reporters questions following his talk to the Churchill Club. "The big question has always been how much of it is happening because of natural climate changes and how much of it is happening because of human intervention.''

But, he added, "The overwhelming number of scientists now believe that there is significant human cause.'' He said the debate on the existence of global warming is "is almost unnecessary...because we should be dealing with pollution anyway.>>

He did not say he thinks it is caused by human activity. He said many of you people do.

McCain wants to reduce pollution. Sounds good to me. Nothing about the sky is falling crap.

<<“It seems to me just prudent that we recognize we have climate increase and temperature change,” he (Brownback) said. “We have CO2 loading and we need to reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere.”

Brownback was in Iowa for the first time since officially launching his candidacy Jan. 20. He spent most of Tuesday in Cedar Rapids, where he met with conservative activists and took questions from reporters on a variety of topics.

Although Brownback said global temperatures had risen and climate change needed to be addressed, he declined to use the term “global warming.”>>

Seems he's not too up on the hype either. Why do you Libs exaggerate all the time?

Doesn't reality support your warped world view enough?

Um, no. Global warming is an alarmist joke. yeah, it's happening, but human made? I doubt it. I would think that mother nature could handle anything humans could dish out. Have you ever gone to the lake and seen all the algae that grows on it (At least it does in Iowa) Why is that? It's because there is a lot of crap running off the the farmland and it's providing fuel for the algae. What makes you think that simple plant life wouldn't explode if there were an abundance of CO2? If you have fuel, you will have fire. Either there will be more plant life (photosynthetic life in the ocean) or excessive growth amongst higher life forms.

I highly doubt that mother nature is careening out of control. She will get it under control when the times comes.

Not necessarily. All politicians engage in posturing some of the time.

A majority of scientists agree that humans have had some impact, but to what extent?

Essentially, IMO, the issue boils down to the question of whether humans have a big enough impact on the climate to justify radical controls put in place by Legislatures around the world.

And I believe the jury is still out on that one.

No. But then, I took more science classes than they did, and was schooled in the scientific method. And scored better on standardized tests.

And I do not pretend that 1/2 the scientific voices do not exist, just because I don't want to hear them say that the scientific basis for the human aspect of global warming is shaky at best.

they told me this was the warmest winter in history of Michigan

i still was cold the last part of winter and even in spring i see cold weather...

no i think global warming is so much double speak. they will talk about it, write about it..and even demonstrate about it but what good will it do if countries like China etc etc etc who have virtually no control over their factories and environment...what effect with a lot of do goodies ranting and raving do if the "whole world" don't comply?

do you know how much Junk and garbage our own US Navy dumps into the ocean's? "far out in sea and away from prying eyes?" that stuff either sinks to the bottom of the ocean or floats to foreign shores..and that's just our navy ..the rest of the world does the same think in spades...
Are the oil tankers getting any better? They are an accident waiting to happen.

Global warming is going to have to run its course..sorry..its a case of too little too late

Global Warming is not a conservative or liberal issue.
The REMEDY for it has become a political issue.
As a businessman for many years , one of the first steps in problem-solving is to determine the cause of the problem and then resolve it in the most effecient economical and sensible way.
Mr Gore damages his case because he continues to exaggerate it.
The remedy he suggests has no balance between the expense proposed and the potential benefit.
It also is extremely difficult to buy what he's selling when he, himself, refuses to do so.

N O, Global warming is real and it is also natural
climate change. Humans may be partically at
fault, but Cows, Horses and other animals are also partically to blame, plus the cities building all of these roads, parking lots and other man made items are to blame for most of the global warming.
