I got someone to come give me an estimate on spraying for termites. He wants $600 I don't really have. A friend told me you could get spray from Coop or someplace and spray yourself. I was wondering if this would work.

No. You might slow them down a little. But, termite treatment takes gallons and gallons of chemicals applied properly to be effective. Unless you have a VERY small house or the guy who gave you the bid is a fly by night contractor, $600 is dirt cheap.

There are two types a foam spray that is applied inside the wall where you know there are termites and there are the type that you pound into the ground. I've used the foam in rentals where they had gotten into one wall and it did work to kill them and their colony. Presently, I have the termite stakes in the ground around my yard. I just passed a termite inspection, so I guess they are working. But, $600 isn't really bad, my neighbors just spent $3,000 tenting their house with the high heat method to kill a termite infestation they had in their attic.
