Buy a Creative ZEN Vision M 30 GB player. It plays videos, music, has a built in FM tuner, can record from FM or voice record, and it can be easily set to allot any part of the 30 bg hard drive to be a data storage device. You can access it through media player for the files that will go on easy and ccan be accessed easily from any computer using the cable and a usb port. Check it out! Oh, it is about 40-50 $ less expensive then the ipod video 30. And you aren't stuck with itunes!

any ipods... the songs they play have to be instelled on pod by itunes wich makes a hidden folder in ur ipod. so dont u worry! u can store ur data OUTSIDE that data. but rember if u wanna access those songs stored in playlist then ull need itunes!!
