I know it sounds a bit silly, but I'm going to prom just to be able to say I went. I know I'll regret not going, and I've heard it's not really that bad at my school if you don't have a date.
I'm on the school event committee, so my ticket is free.
I want to know how casual I can get. I'm not really a formal kind of person, so I'm a little nervous about looking like something I'm not.
Will it look too strange if I don't arrive in a hundred-dollar dress?
Should I suck it up and get one, or should I just make something that looks like a prom dress?
Could I even go to it in jeans? Ha ha.
There's no dress code for this thing, so that's not a problem.

Since you are on the committee you are aware of the expectation -that this is a semi-formal to very formal event. There will be lots of photo opportunities and you will want to look appropriate. You don't have to spend a fortune to look good - there are consignment shops, rentals, thrift and even discount stores where you could get an outfit appropriate for your style yet still fitting for the venue. You would hate to be there in jeans and have photos with your friends in fancier attire. This is a night to sparkle a little. It doesn't have to be a dress - you could wear a tux or a suit - even a Chanel style pajama pant and halter top. Even though you are a casual person this is an opportunity to have once in a life time photos of you and your friends all looking fabulous. Good Luck!

It really depends on where you live and what the proms are like here.. Here, everyone wears short dresses that aren't poofy, so it's not that formal. But you should wear a dress.. It doesn't have to be ugly and prom-y though. It can be short. Maybe wear some cute flats if you don't want to wear heels?

hmmm jeans??? NO! I think you need to suck it up and buy a dress hon. And no I don't mean a hunderd dollar dress but actually if you go to a reasonable store (Charlotte Russe) you will be able to pick up a very cute cocktail dress for just about $30. Pear it with cute strapy heals and you will be all set.

You can go formal, or semi. cute little sassy dress, Hanes Silk reflections sheer to waist, you want your legs to look hot! and you will like the way they feel, cute high heels, go to super Target, or look on line for Target, have some very cute, sassy, sexy , affordable heels, Jet black or tan colored hose, goes with black heels, tan hose, black, pink, white, red heels, tan hose any colored outfit, black generally with black, very sexy color, looks good on gals.
buy the good pantyhose tho, cheap ones suck!
