It really depends on your lifestyle (stage of life). The two areas where landline has advantage over mobile phones are:
1) battery life - the landline phone is charged by the phone wire itself (low voltage)
2) emergency - when you dial 911, whether you can speak or not, the emergency services can identify your exact location and send the police, fire and ambulance.

So, back to your lifestyle question: if you are single, on the move all the time, likes to receive calls, and does not mind being interrupted by a ringing cell phone (even during class), then mobile is the way to go. If you happened to be a family person, with kids at home (or the elderly), no matter how little you may be using it, having a landline for the purposes I said above, might be worth it.

If you are getting landline, get it from the 'incumbent' landline carriers (not the VoIP carriers) and make sure it is not a VoIP phone. Also, these carriers are mandated by the State regulations to offer a 'measured service" package. That essentially charges a small fixed amount per month but you pay per call (still a small number). This will allow you to keep a landline at low cost for emergencies, and still have a mobile phone > best of both worlds.

I have a cell and a landline, but for you it sounds like it might be better to get rid of your landline...as long as you have good service at your house, unlimited minutes and are able to charge your phone frequently, it's seams like you're all set!
