I've recently purchased an Integral Courier USB Flash Drive 2.0 2GB. When I plug it in my PC it is saying "USB device not recognized". When I plug it in in another computer it is working fine. Can somebody help me....do I have to download some drivers, in such case where from?

okay, if it may be that the flash drive is dependant on removeable storage services being active for it to be recognised. goto start > run > type services.msc and scroll down the list to Removeable Storage and check that it says Started next to it. If it dosn't, right click and select start, if it says disable, click properties in the right click menu and change it to start/enable. i hope this does the trick.

USB plugs and sockets don't have unlimited lifespans. Those metal contacts are really just the metal leads on a circuit board. After a lot of insertions and removals, the metal on the contacts will eventually wear out. They can also get dirty. One of your other respondents suggested taking the flash drive apart, and I agree. Be careful. Taking it apart undoubtedly actually means breaking it apart. Get it down to the bare little circuit board. Once you can see the contacts on the part that goes into the USB socket on your computer, clean them up with a cotton swab and alcohol. Then, as the other guy suggested, insert it in the socket and GENTLY wiggle it around. With luck it'll work this one last time. If it does work, COPY ALL THE DATA OFF OF IT IMMEDIATELY, and put it on a new flash drive. Don't use the old one again. (I've got several SanDisk flash drives. None has failed yet, but they all will eventually.)

Windoze 98 yes, newer Versions no. Look on the Courier Flash drive web site for help.
Try other USB ports, front and rear. The device could also be defective, so try it on another PC.

I've had a similar problem before and found that I had to go to Computer Management (found under the Administrative Tools icon on the control panel), find the usb drive and allocate it a different drive letter.

right click on my computer and go to properties. under the hardware tab go to device manager then see if there is a yellow question mark under universal serial bus controllers or in another category if so then right click and go to update driver.. if u have service pack 2 installed then it should work if not the install it from the microsoft website and search for sp2 as keyword. good luck if not then go to courier website and search for drivers

right i have the same flash drive but it is 1gb and i had the same problem and what you do is see if it works in the back of you computer because there are sticks that only run off of 2.0 USB slots and if it doesn't work then then try on front of computer because they run off of 1.1 USB slots and if you havent got a front USB slot on your computer go and buy a 1.1 USB external thing that plugs in to one of your USB slots and if that doesnt work take it back because if it does not work on any of the ways that i have told you then they sold you a doggie one

Have you tried it in all the USB slots? Have you tried anything else in the same slots?
If the answers are both negative, wait for a guru.

Sounds like a fault with your USB port - try a different port if that's possible.
