27 weeks pregnant, had glucose test this morning after 10 hour fast. Since then I am feeling so ill. My head hurts, my eyes hurt and I keep having moments of shakiness.
Is this a normal response.
I have eaten since the test was finished but have been careful NOT to consume sugar!
Thanks for all answers.

I was the same way. The lab techs said some people react like that after drinking the sugary liquid. They told me to lay down and drink a ton of water to force the sugar out, and if it didin't go away after a few hours to come back they would check my blood sugar levels. I was sure with this reaction I would test positive, but I didn't, I was fine. If it is not getting better call your doctor. Hope this helps, and you are feeling better soon.

I am a diabetic and after I found out, I had to to on a diabetic diet. I went through caffeine and high carb withdraws. I had the same symtoms as you, but they cleared up after 2-3 days, but being a dude I wasn't pregnet. Also you shakiness is a sign of low blood glucose so try to eat a grenola bar or a whole wheat sandwhich. Remember I AM NOT A DOCTOR so if I say anything that contricdicts your doctor's orders, FOLLOW THE DOCTORS ORDERS. Hope you have a safe dilevery and a healty, beautiful baby.

I get the glucose tolerance test ever other month because I am high risk for diabetes. I always have the bad headache, nauseousness, and shakiness for a few hours afterwards. IT is just your body reacting to all the excess glucose in your system. Obviously, if you are worried, call your doctor and ask them about it.
You can try to eat something like plain oatmeal or cream of wheat- sometimes it helps after a glucose test.

i guess every one is different. I had my test done few weeks ago and my appointment was in the afternoon. I ate good breakfast. Not suppose to eat for 2 hours before the appointment and have to wait one hour for the glucose test, so they can take the test. You should have took snack or fruit with you after that blood test. I hope you will be ok.. I didn't throw up i guess it because i had snack right after i took the test.

After the test is done you can eat sugars. Your body needs the carbs. I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and I still have to consume carbs just not as many. Please eat something with some sugar. You will feel better and your headache will go away. Also... Ibuprofen is a blood thinner... big no no in pregnancy. Good luck

Protein and water, lots and lots of it. And some salt.
And this is why pregnant women should never fast, may someone watch over your baby. The fasting glucose test is something they mainly only do in the US because it is dangerous and there are by far safer ways of testing for gestational diabetes if you live somewhere that tests at all.

sounds like your blood sugar is low. drink juice or eat something with a good amount of carbs to get it back up.
if you don't act now and it gets even lower you can lose consciousness and even worse go into a seizure.
if you were labeled as having gestational diabetes you should invest in a glucose meter. doesn't have to be an expensive one but it will help you maintain your blood sugar better.
if you have a pharmacy prescription plan it may help cover the cost of strips if you were labeled with gd.

I felt the same way after I had mine when I was pregnant. I believe its from having to drink that sugary drink in such a short period. It might be a good idea to call your doctor just in case, though.
Also, Ibuprofen is a big "no no" while pregnant. Tylenol (acetaminophen) is supposed to be safer. I encourage you to talk to your doctor before taking any drugs, prescription or over the counter.
