You have KM# 100 a zinc 5 Reichspfennig (penny) . Now on the reverse below the 5 there should be a letter. It is the mint mark. looks like it was minted at all the German mints in operation at the time. None seem to be scarce and the one with A on it (Berlin) is the commonest. It is worth .30 to a $1 or so if in high circulated grades, no mater what the mint is. It however has more historical value than money value. It was struck in the year the U.S. entered WW II. I bet if it could talk, it may have some, not so nice stories to tell.

I have a few of these as well. I DO collect from all over the world but I rely on a dealer for the international values. I recently asked my dealer what they were worth and he quoted me approx. $2.oo. Give or take due to condition.

Nothing exciting as in price but they are nice to have if you are a collector. A collector in need of the coin you have to complete their collection will always pay more than the average Joe.

DO NOT wash ANY foreign coin made of what you might think is copper... with our coin cleaner here in the USA. Other countries use a different metal even though it looks like copper. You will damage the condition.

Take it to a local coin dealer for a valuation! Do some research online! The less touched the better. Encapsulate it if at all possible. And don't clean it!
