He got a "Razzie" for "Lady In The Water" (although my personal votes for this award would have been "Borat" and "Clerks 2"). "Lady in The Water" had potential but too much of the plot was too incredulous to believe and the story to was hard to follow in many parts. I don't think it has anything to do with his nationality...it has more to do that it was just not his best work.
Keep in mind they also awarded a "Razzie" to the very talented actress for her role in "Basic Instinct 2", which I would agree is not her best work. Prior that the talented, Oscar winning actress Halle Berry got one for "Cat Woman"...not her best work either.
My thoughts on him is that he has produced more good movies than bad one and every director, even award winning ones, has a stinker or two (or more) to the credit. In years to come, I think he will be remembered more as the genius that wrote and directed "The Sixth Sense" and "Unbreakable". Look how long it took Scorsese to win an Oscar.

Why did he get the worst director award? Well...let's see. I don't know but The Village, Signs, and Lady In The Water (or whatever its called) all sucked with a capital "S". Maybe that's why, I don't know. He's a one shot wonder.

i think he s pretty talented and it has nothing to do with the fact that he s indian producers who were asians won oscars so hollywood is beyond racism. he just had one bad movie that he made and that was on his bad side. everyone has at least one bad movie in their career in hollywood there are ups and downs. thats how directors get more experienced

It's not because he's Indian. People are jealous of his popularity.
