Do I have to buy something, or is it free?? I am trying to make some cd's and have no clue how, I asked how to burn music before, but the answers were not that specific. Please give specific instructions..thanks. I have a brand new comptuer that has a DVD R/RW, will this work? I also have Real Player& Apple Quick time, does that have anything to do with it. Sorry to be such a pain, I am just not that familiar with this.

You need a CD burning program. You should have one on your computer, but if you don't here are a few that work.
http://www.sonic.com/
http://www.roxio.com/
http://www.apple.com/itunes/
Now for music you can either do it the legal way or the illegal way.
The legal way would be with itunes, which I gave you the link above, which can download songs .99 per song. It doesn't cost anything to download the program itunes and you are able to burn music cd's with it.
The other two I provided you with can create music cd, but also allows you to save data to the cds.
If you want to get free music, then you can use limewire, but it is illegal and if your not careful you can infect your computer with spyware and virus's.

Material found via http://creativecommons.org/audio/ is covered by licenses that allow you to download music freely.
Beware of peer-to-peer (P2P) systems such as limewire as these usually contain mostly music that is not license for redistribution (and downloading such music is illegal in most jurisdictions).
http://www.magnatune.com/ sells music at a reasonable price and without DRM.
Apple ITunes sells music, but with DRM, so the only portable music players you can use it with are iPods.
http://mp3.about.com/od/wheretobuymusic/a/all_profile.htm lists some other services (most, if not all, of which also have various DRM in place).
More on DRM: http://www.eff.org/IP/DRM/

If you dont pay it is not generally legal.
iTunes is probably the best pay service out there. Frostwire is a peer to peer program that will let you get music for free, albeit not legally.
With a pay service, you are guaranteed quality dowloads. The P2P services you have to be more careful with, because quality may vary, or things may contain viruses or just not be as advertised

You can steal music illegally for free using programs such as Limewire or Kaaza or you can download music legally for a small price from such places as walmart.com.
The choice is yours!
