I’m a virgin (waiting till marriage). I’m engaged and about to be married in a month. I’m really nervous about having sex for the first time but I am really excited to. I’ve never used a tampon because I’m scared to try. I’m scared of pain. (Major fear of needles also). I don’t want my wedding night to be a terrible experience. What are some things (exercises, foods, vitamins, methods..etc) that I can do to prepare for sex and also so it won’t hurt as bad.

First off, if you're not planning on having children right away you need to get on birth control ASAP. You OB will also be able to discuss ways to make you more comfortable the first time.

Talk to your fiance. Let him know how nervous you are before the wedding night. That way, he'll know ahead of time not to push you too fast, as it might make things backfire.

Dont' feel like you have to have sex the first night. If you're that nervous, it might be better to wait and just practice on foreplay the first day or two. Let you get used to each other adn relax in one another's company.

Another thing, the two of you could go to a bookstore and look for books on this subject to read together before your wedding night. One my husband and I used was Between Husband and Wife.

The most important thing is to take it slow. If you are scared/nervous, you are going ot tighten up and that will make it more painful.

Also, while it will hurt the first time, it's only momentary if he is gentle and will dissapate quickly if you are relaxed.

First off--Congrads on waiting, that's going to make it so special for you and your new husband. As far as preparing for this night mentally I can't tell you much other than relax as much as possible and enjoy yourself. First times usually are not the greatest because your nervous and scared and inexperienced. The tissues in your vagina are very flexible--think about it--an entire baby comes out of there. If your hymen is still intact then you might have some pain and bleeding when first penetrated. I'm not saying that your hymen is there because your a virgin I'm saying it might be gone because several things can cause you to lose that like horseback riding or falling off a bike onto the bar in the middle. You don't have to warm up physically before sex and as far as food or vitamins go all i can say is don't eat beans (LOL) and if you will be trying for a baby then start taking folic acid to help prevent birth defects. It is not going to be so painful that you hate doing it but the more lubricant you have (yours or artificial) the easier that part of sex will go. Good Luck on your upcoming wedding night.

First of all, your wedding night isn't usually the best time to have sex for the first time. The day is so exhausting, by the time it's all over, both of you are ready to crash! That makes it difficult to have the kind of slow, sensual experience you need for your first time.

Having said that, because you'll be nervous, you may not get as lubricated as you need to be to decrease the discomfort of the first time. So, be sure and take a water-based lubricant with you...K-Y or something similiar. Use it liberally! Also be sure to take some panti liners with you, because you may need them the next day or so.

As for methods, I'll leave that up to someone else to answer. I will add, though, that you should either take cranberry juice along with you, or be sure you'll be able to get some on your honeymoon. Some women get bladder infections after the first time, and that sure would put a damper on your honeymoon! After having sex, get up and use the bathroom to clear your urethra, and drink some water or cranberry juice at that time. I know that sounds terribly technical and unromantic, but it will be worth the effort, believe me.

My answer is practical, rather than romantic, but they are considerations you should keep in mind. As for your first time... Relax. Go slowly. Talk about what you need and how you feel. Let your husband know that on that first night, it's all about you.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. :)

Read the book "The Act of Marriage" by Tim LaHaye. He is a Christian author. Might try a christian bookstore or amazon.com. An awesome book. Will really help you. Tim LaHaye wrote the Left Behind series.

There is a great book called "Sheet Music" and it is very descriptive. I bought it for a friend before her wedding and she loved it! (I forgot the author, but I got it in a Christian bookstore, it may be on Amazon). Mostly the preparation you need is purely mental. If you are mentally prepared it will be awesome and not painful.

Just relax and make sure he does enough foreplay. It will still likely hurt. If he is starting and it hurts you can always just try again later. It took me my whole honeymoon to go all the way. Just make sure he is patient.
