I believe with the greenline opened, and the wall torn down in Nicosia, the process of total re-integration has begun. Add that to Cyprus joining the EU along with Turkey's being considered and the future looks brighter for Famagusta.
However, Greek/Turkish tensions are years old, some tensions hundreds of years old, so like problems existed in Northern Ireland for hundreds of years, or just as problems exist in Israel/Palenstine, or near the border of North/South Korea, they will continue to exist in Famagusta, although I believe if the Greek and Turkish governments and people work together, these problems will be minimized.
I'm not close enough nor expert enough to fully say what will happen to Famagusta, but I hope it returns to its former glory and in fact surpasses it. I may be sort of out of date on my information since I don't live there and I just recently learned of the specifics of this issue.
Good Day.
